Ongoing Work
Piecing Us Together
Kate Kerrigan drove around the entire US stopping to visit every person she knows. She asked them to use materials to create a unique mosaic strip that she then took and combined into a large mosaic of the people in her life.
My job is to sort through the mountains of footage and produce a documentary as well as a museum pitch video for the project.
Organizational Work
Push Fitness 3rd annual Spirit Triathlon Sponsored by Lulu Lemon
For this project I was contracted to use the footage taken from the event a few weeks prior. My task was to find a simple and powerful story within the images and interviews and craft them into a promotional recap video. Just being handed footage for the first time with no prior ideas or input on what to record was an very valuable test for me. I was forced to find a real tangible through line for the story which was community and acceptance.
UMN Karate Do Club Promo
As a part of a class project I was tasked with creating a news story on a person or group of people. I found the Karate Do club interesting and as a part of getting permission to film and interview them I was to create an alternate edit of the project to stand as a promotional piece for the club.
UMN NSAC Manifesto Video 2022
For our client Meta, our main idea for the campaign was built around breaking people out of their preconceptions (‘the box’) of VR technology and show them the potential for connection and new experiences that the device makes possible. I was also tasked with voicing the project which required me to learn new control of my voice to be able to present the tone of the project appropriately.
Other Projects
A Road Less Traveled
This documentary was made for a class assignment by myself and 2 other classmates. This project details the auto-mechanic classes at my high school that prepared students for other paths in life than a 4 year degree. This was the first serious piece I worked on and it had a large impact on the style choices I make to this day. Making this video also taught me a lot about conducting interviews and editing practices.
Rat Race
A final short film project that I wrote, produced, filmed, and edited. During this project we had a few issues arise on set that required solution focused thinking that I use to this day in all my projects. There is no time to assign blame in the moment, only time to find a solution.
All In
A midterm short film project that I worked on in college. The goal of this assignment was to create a full beginning middle and end in a minute. I learned to be resourceful and use tricks to account for our lack of budget and locations to create the look and feel of this film.
The Strength Within
A mock news piece that I was tasked to create for a multimedia class. This is the longer edit that has more time to focus on the people that were in the club and how karate makes them feel. I was responsible for getting permission to film, and schedule times with the interviewees to create a human interest story that I found through my interviews. This was my second experience voicing a project that required me to further develop my speaking skills.
Speaking In Bass
I was tasked to interview a person about their art and create a short piece about them. This was my 4th time conducting an interview and the second that I filmed. I learned a lot about how to build a list of questions, to use them, and how to follow and probe further on interesting answers.
Let’s play a game
My first fictional project that I had to create for a art of moving images class. This was my first experience working with actors and a script. It was a very fun experience though it was filmed during the peak of COVID lockdown so there were a lot of interesting limitations on location and cast.
